The Forge promotes some of the country's finest musicians from classical to jazz, world and folk music. Our programme centres around live music but also includes other art forms such as comedy, literature and poetry.

Chinwe Chukwuogo-Roy MBE
Art Exhibition
Chinwe received worldwide recognition for her Golden Jubilee portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her sitters include the President of Nigeria and the Secretary General of the Commonwealth. Her paintings were used on the national postage stamps of seven countries and her biography is part of the National Curriculum in UK. She was awarded Honorary Doctorate of Letters by the University of East Anglia and an MBE in 2009. She exhibits widely nationally and internationally and is represented in public and private collections worldwide.

Rhodri Davies (UK) - Solo Harp & Electronics
Harpist Rhodri Davies works in the field of new, experimental and improvised music. He explores noise, live electronics, silence, texture and abstract sound. For this exclusive solo performance, Davies will engage the audience in a mixture of written and improvised material.
Mia Zabelka (Aut) - Solo Violin
Mia Zabelka's new solo project, 'Canta il Corpo Elettrico', focuses on the development of experimental improvisational techniques with the voice and electric violin, a process she calls "automatic playing". She explores the relationships between the body, gesture, sound, machines and space using live electronics and her laptop to expand the electro-acoustic sonic spectrum.

Laura Moody and Andre Shlimon
In this unclassifiable double bill Andre Shlimon presents his collection 'Lingering Hope' for piano, cello and vocals, juxtaposing contemporary chamber music and pop songs, like Bartok mixed with Leonard Cohen, and Laura Moody explores everything possible using only solo cello and voice to create unique, acoustic, avant-pop music.

Nathan Watson returns to the Forge August 21 with his friends and ahead of the release of his 2nd single Reach Out. Joining him will be Dawn Joseph fresh from touring with Spandau Ballet and Kylie Minogue. Dawn has worked with many of the top acts in this country including Craig David and Sir Cliff Richard and will be performing songs from her new Album.
