Kirsty Mcgee Hobopop Trio
A maker of delicate yet stubborn songs; an instinctive traveler; a human scrapbook - kirsty mcgee has become something of a cult figure on the uk songwriting scene. Her songs are the soundtrack to a colorful patchwork of experience, and attest to a unique life full of paradoxical quirks and actions from the heart, sung by a voice just that little bit too pure to have seen what she has seen. It is just one of the many ironies that surround her eccentric past and qualify her to write and perform music of such rich integrity and sincerity. Kirsty performs today at the Forge with her trio.

Fibonacci Sequence
Kathron Sturrock and Julian Farrell, both founder members of the acclaimed ensemble The Fibonacci Sequence, join forces with soprano Ann Mackay for a short recital, starting appropriately with Purcell's 'Music for a While', and finishing with Schubert's delectable 'Shepherd on the Rock'. At the heart of the programme, works by Finzi and Lutoslawski for clarinet and piano embrace songs by Mozart and Strauss: Ann Mackay, early in her career, appeared in Elisabeth Schwarzkopf's classes, where Kathron was the regular accompanist...these songs bring back to them wonderful memories of working with 'Madame'. The Fibonacci Sequence has a wide-ranging discography, and the next release will be the Schubert Octet, for Deux-Elles, with violinist Jack Liebeck and Julian Farrell leading the ensemble.
The Fibonacci Sequence '.....dazzlingly good chamber ensemble.....' The Times
Ann Mackay '.....deliciously warm, sweet-toned singing and sensuous phrasing....a model of commitment, control and clarity....' The Times

Pantagruel
Formed in 2002, Pantagruel have been delighting audiences across Europe with their semi-staged performances of renaissance music, bringing to life the passionate music of a distant age. Pantagruel, with his motto “do what thou wilt” is the fitting name for an ensemble that is not afraid to explore innovative ideas of performance and presentation. Combining painstaking musicological research with their experience in classical music, rock music, jazz, theatre and dance, their performances expand classical concert conventions by using renaissance practices of medley, improvisation and gesture.
Taking as its title the Elizabethan Michael Drayton’s poem “Nymphidia, the court of Fairy”, Pantagruel’s programme explores the fantastical and supernatural aspects of Elizabethan and Jacobean musical life featuring music by John Dowland, Thomas Ravenscroft, Robert Jones, Francis Pilkington and Robert Johnson.
