WHAT'S ON – THE FORGE DIARY

The Forge promotes some of the country's finest musicians from classical to jazz, world and folk music. Our programme centres around live music but also includes other art forms such as comedy, literature and poetry.

Rhodri Davies (UK) - Solo Harp & Electronics

Harpist Rhodri Davies works in the field of new, experimental and improvised music. He explores noise, live electronics, silence, texture and abstract sound. For this exclusive solo performance, Davies will engage the audience in a mixture of written and improvised material.

Mia Zabelka (Aut) - Solo Violin

Mia Zabelka's new solo project, 'Canta il Corpo Elettrico', focuses on the development of experimental improvisational techniques with the voice and electric violin, a process she calls "automatic playing". She explores the relationships between the body, gesture, sound, machines and space using live electronics and her laptop to expand the electro-acoustic sonic spectrum.

  • Laura Moody and Andre Shlimon

In this unclassifiable double bill Andre Shlimon presents his collection 'Lingering Hope' for piano, cello and vocals, juxtaposing contemporary chamber music and pop songs, like Bartok mixed with Leonard Cohen, and Laura Moody explores everything possible using only solo cello and voice to create unique, acoustic, avant-pop music.
