Highlights

  • Nathan Watson and Friends

In conjunction with The Forge & Sisterhood TV

A hectic year for Nathan Watson, 2009 began with his debut at the Jazz Cafe, a national tour, radio interviews, opening slots for soul divas Leela James & Jazmine Sullivan and culminating in his sold out record launch party again at the Jazz Cafe for his first single Loveline (on Itunes now!). His debut album Student of Life is set for release in the spring of 2010 and today Nathan appears for his first major gig of the year. Also appearing will be up coming RnB vocalist Roselie & sublime world music singer Randolph Matthews. You can check their music out at http://www.roselie.co.uk & www.myspace.com/randolphmatthews

Tonight is the first of a regular monthly event at the Forge and will be filmed for TV by Sisterhood TV. The months to come will feature an eclectic array of top flight singers musicians poets & performers co-hosted by Nathan & Kubi Springer.

  • Naked Footprints

The Dave Hassell-Andy Scott Duo, comprising tenor saxophonist Andy Scott and percussionist Dave Hassell, recently undertook an adventurous collaboration with Mexican percussionist Evaristo Aguilar and photographer William Ellis. Travelling deep into the Mexican rainforest, the quartet embarked on a journey that would take them to Las Pozas, home to the late English eccentric and surrealist architect, Edward James. The group spent several days playing and recording in the beautiful and dangerous surroundings of Las Pozas, described as a “surreal Eden”, with its soaring edifices of coloured concrete, enormous sculptures of hands, serpents and exotic flowers, and grand parapets in the sky. They then returned to Tampico to record the CD Naked Footprints, featuring musical improvisations based on the different sculptures. The group is reforming specially for this UK tour, and the concert will feature music from the CD accompanied by projected images of Las Pozas.
